Re: Russo: Suter didn't like playing with Dumba

I was a bit afraid of the inmates re-taking the asylum after Stevens stepped down. Really hoping this isn't that.

Re: Extending Koivu

I'm probably okay with it. Still hoping JEEK or Kunin develop to take up the flag for many of the things Koivu does now that no other Wild centers can do.

Re: Zimmer salty in post game presser

No, Zim is way outta line here, to put it mildly. Anytime the status of the single-most important position in all of sports gets screwy, you're gonna have to answer questions about it. Thinking otherwise is flat-out delusional. Now that he's taken such a terse tack here, this is only gonna mushroom ...

Re: $2.875 for Foligno

I was done with Pominville based on performance. Wasn't worth the cap hit in my opinion.

I'm bummed at losing Scandella. As it all eventually shook out, did we really have to lose Marco? And what is the net difference, relative to the Wild's cap, after all this?

I will bare-knuckle fist-fight anyone who thinks keeping Koivu around until age 40 is a good idea.

Fist. Fight.

I'm just now coming to from the convulsions that set in after reading Mikko getting 5 years to age 40. Lemme think about that for a sec.

UMMMMM, NO.

Re: Extending Koivu

If I was the Wild I would tread very lightly here. Most guys in Koivu's spot get at least one of money or term. I would be hesitant to give him much more than one year, which may be an offer that compels Mikko to tell the Wild to pound sand. Then again, the Wild doesn't really have anyone else that ...

Re: The Game: 5 Keys To The Wild's Season

I could get on board with those. Here's what I would say without putting a ton of thought into it: 1) Depth- as in health & production- up front 2) Depth on the blue line- Olofsson has to stay healthy & contribute, Reilly needs to start producing in the National League before he turns 30 3) ...

Re: Okay Twins, what you got?

The baseball wild card chase is pretty much just like the NHL's. Can't afford to slip up much. So many teams in the running that somebody gains ground every night. Too many in contention- they can't all lose.

Russo said in his initial meeting with the founding fathers, he thought he could hit the number of subscribers they were shooting for by July on the first day alone.

Mission accomplished.

I can't believe how it's not detrimental to burn the first year of his contract. If someone could explain that to me, I'd be all ears. But until then, I ain't buyin' what Fletch is selling with regard to this.

Re: Duby vs. everyone else

Even when the Wild was humming along through December and January, I felt like it was all about 'team defense.' The forwards were back-checking hard, the D were rock-solid, and Duby was airtight. Seemed like a total team effort. Opponents were forced to the outside, and largely kept out on the perim...

I'm having a bit of an issue reconciling where the Wild are (is) at right now. I have enjoyed the **** out of watching this team bring it just about every single night. This is easily the best season of any local team since the '98 Vikings went 15-1. And we all know how that ended up. Which brings m...

Iggy's exactly the kinda guy- by all accounts great teammate, veteran guy, been around forever- that a team would let go to do him a solid more than anything else.

Granlund or Nino?

Should we have any level of concern about the Wild's ability to retain these two long-term?

If so, which would you choose? I think a compelling argument could be made for each. Let's hear it.

Re: Hanzal it is

As the trade deadline approaches, each team must decide: are they buyers or sellers. Teams near the top of the standings are looking to add pieces to put them over the proverbial hump. Teams towards the bottom have their eyes on the future and look to get maximum value for players on the cusp of fre...

Re: Hanzal it is

Yotes got a decent haul for Hanzal. At the same time, what is considered 'giving up a haul' can vary on a team-by-team basis. Fact the Wild has Kunin, JEEK, Tuch, Greenway, Kaprizov, et all in the system will minimize the loss of the assets given up if even half of them (yes, that would be 2.5 playe...
