Re: Farewell, Minnesota

Congrats and best of luck to you & the fam, Bergy. You'll be missed. But fear not, your Matt Cooke reference trolls will irritate me just as much from Columbus as they do from St. Paul.

Re: JEEK's back

I can't believe how it's not detrimental to burn the first year of his contract. If someone could explain that to me, I'd be all ears. But until then, I ain't buyin' what Fletch is selling with regard to this.

Re: Duby vs. everyone else

Even when the Wild was humming along through December and January, I felt like it was all about 'team defense.' The forwards were back-checking hard, the D were rock-solid, and Duby was airtight. Seemed like a total team effort. Opponents were forced to the outside, and largely kept out on the perim...

I'm having a bit of an issue reconciling where the Wild are (is) at right now. I have enjoyed the **** out of watching this team bring it just about every single night. This is easily the best season of any local team since the '98 Vikings went 15-1. And we all know how that ended up. Which brings m...

Iggy's exactly the kinda guy- by all accounts great teammate, veteran guy, been around forever- that a team would let go to do him a solid more than anything else.

Granlund or Nino?

Should we have any level of concern about the Wild's ability to retain these two long-term?

If so, which would you choose? I think a compelling argument could be made for each. Let's hear it.

Re: Hanzal it is

As the trade deadline approaches, each team must decide: are they buyers or sellers. Teams near the top of the standings are looking to add pieces to put them over the proverbial hump. Teams towards the bottom have their eyes on the future and look to get maximum value for players on the cusp of fre...

Re: Hanzal it is

Yotes got a decent haul for Hanzal. At the same time, what is considered 'giving up a haul' can vary on a team-by-team basis. Fact the Wild has Kunin, JEEK, Tuch, Greenway, Kaprizov, et all in the system will minimize the loss of the assets given up if even half of them (yes, that would be 2.5 playe...

Thought those comments were kinda weird, too. Makes me wonder if the young man has some 'maturing' to do before he will finally 'get it.'

Here we go again. Nyquist will get a slapped in the face with a 6 game wet noodle. The fighting in hockey debate will begin all over again. "This is why fighting should be allowed in hockey. If fighting gets stamped out of the game, stick work will increase incrementally. Guys need to be held a...

Re: Tuch called up

What I love about this current team:

A guy with 11 points in his last 17 games is considered to be mired in a huge slump.

In past seasons, a guy with 11 points in the last 17 games would be considered to be 'on a tear.'

I think making this move at this time gives the Blues an out if they decide Yeo is not the right guy at season's end.

Re: Ken Hitchcock fired

Yeah, I thought the same thing, six. Things must've gotten pretty toxic not being able to wait out one more W. Blues didn't see this sort of collapse coming, obvs. Losing Backes and their goaltending going south has killed them. Naming a 'coach in waiting' probably hamstrung themselves in a way they...

Pretty involved in hockey almost year round, but it peaks from October through March. Help coach my daughter's U10 team. Really enjoy watching my PeeWee son play his games. I also referee youth hockey & beer league. Worked 37 games in the month of January. That's actually down a bit from past Ja...
