Re: What's Next?

Yeah, I misspoke on Coyle. He was there in the playoffs, but disappeared for chunks of the regular season. Got me a little mixed up.

It's a hard time to really decide much, and I doubt they are. There are 5 free agents, and I don't see them re-signing any of them.

Re: What's Next?

The hardest part for me is where are guys like Coyle, Zucker, Granlund, Nino and Haula? Are they impact players, or are they disappearing like they did in the playoffs? The veterans, you know what they are, whether that's good or bad. Maybe they find something to do with Pominville. Then there is th...

Re: youth hockey

It was full sheet when I was little, and could hardly skate. It was also before they divided mites into different skill levels.

The smaller sheet for mites makes way more sense, IMO.

Re: Concerned?

Yeah, I'm concerned. I think they need to get their stuff together within the next week here, or they're screwed. Hard to turn it on during the playoffs.

They are a good team that needs to have the confidence that they're a good team.

Re: And Another Thing: There's No Reason to Play Up

I played up in camps in the spring and summer nearly every year from the time I was a first year squirt until bantams, and I played up my first three years of baseball. It was fine. I improved at hockey because I played with kids that played at a faster pace, and I enjoyed the competition. It made m...

Re: Reid Duke

I remember reading a story about him there, and how the Wild were missing out by not signing him, because he was putting up points in juniors.

Re: Teemu Pulkkinen traded to Arizona

It's odd that Pulkkinen didn't just end up in the original trade with the Coyotes. It's like they forgot something at the store, and had to go back and get it. "Damn it, we forgot the Finnish forward." He likely was part of the trade, but the GMs could not figure out what the compensation...

I thought they'd get a 3rd for him, but for sure get it, not with a pile of conditions.

Re: Granlund or Nino?

I think I'd keep Granlund, but be real pissed Nino gets away.

I hope that they can figure out a way to keep both. Pominville's contract is in the way. Then there is what to do with Mikko, since he's a UFA after next season.

Re: NBC's love affair with Zetterberg

I can see that happening. Might be better if they just show the shift length and overall ice time after the shift is over, instead of the clock during the shift.

Re: NBC's love affair with Zetterberg

I don't mind the shift timer chart, but constantly talking about the guys gets on my nerves.

There has to be a better way to drum up interest in the players.

Re: Minnesota Twins

Carving out the time is probably the toughest part. Games going from 7PM to at least 10, and three or four nights a week. Sometimes I don't get to start a game until 9 or so, but with Twitter, it's easy to stay caught up. Takes a bit to scroll through all the tweets after everyone goes to bed, or pl...

Re: Minnesota Twins

I was actually a White Sox fan for a couple years when I was growing up (mid 90's), but switched back to the Twins in the late 90's/early 00's.

When you're 10 years old and you play first base, are you going to be into Frank Thomas or Scott Stahoviak? That explains those few years.

Minnesota Twins

Do any of you guys follow the Twins as well? Besides the Wild, they are the only team that I really follow closely. Plus, when they're shitty, the season ends right when the hockey season begins. Works great! I think they will be better this year than last year, and seeing some of these young player...

Re: This week in the NHL

The only guys I'd be down to trade would be guys they wouldn't want (Graovac and Schroeder). Otherwise you're not actually getting much deeper. You're just exchanging even parts.

It's odd to look at and see that Iginla has 3 fewer even strength points than Schroeder, in 28 more games, and playing more minutes per game.

I wouldn't be mad if Coyle got it right away.

I would guess Schroeder, though. Hasn't been bad lately, but he's in a tough spot.
