Schroeder and Graovac are gone

Schroeder to the Blue Jackets for a minor leaguer and Graovac to the Caps for a 5th round pick. GMCF seems to be cleaning house.

Turns out that's what happened. Scandella and Pominville to Buffalo for Ennis and Foligno.

Re: Vegas gets Haula and Tuch

I'm trying to sort out my feels on this. I had come to accept the fact that we were going to lose a young defenseman, but the Wild are typically very good defensively, so it didn't bother me much. Now that we've lost two young forwards, it seems like a bigger hit when goal scoring always seems like ...

Vegas gets Haula and Tuch

Ow. So much for the talk about them taking a young blue liner. I'm not sure if I'm more upset about Haula or Tuch. Probably Tuch, since I'm losing faith that Haula is going to be much more than a third line player in his career. Opinions?

Re: What's Next?

Coyle? He scored two goals and created other great chances. I thought he and Parise were the only forwards that actually showed up. I think it's hard to say too much about plans for the defense until we see who Vegas takes. More Bergy's point, I don't think anything needs to be done. We were one of ...

Re: And so real hockey begins

Interesting. I'm more confident in Chicago and Anaheim winning their series than the Wild, but that could just be scars of playoffs past.

And so real hockey begins

Overall, the Wild had a very successful season. Set the team record for points and wins, bunch of players in the double-digits for goals, personal bests for Granlund and Duby at least. So now we have the Blues to face. Even though the Wild have done well against them in the playoffs in recent histor...

JEEK's back

The Wild recalled JEEK and GMCF is saying he's not going to be bouncing between MN and Iowa. Interesting move. I'd be surprised if it was terribly effective at kicking the Wild back into gear, but it's better than nothing.

Re: Duby vs. everyone else

Yeah, Ovi scored the same damned goal three times. You'd think the Wild would learn. In last night's game, I'd blame the D as much as Duby, but Duby hasn't been Goalie Jesus in a while. For some time, we were winning games with offense. When the O cooled off, there was nothing left and we tanked. We...

Re: Concerned?

Well, we got a win. It wasn't pretty, but it was against a good team. It would be good to pull the Sharks in the playoffs, since we seem to have their number.

Re: Concerned?

I'm concerned. They looked totally outmatched by teams they will have to beat in the playoffs. They need their confidence back, and Dubnyk needs to start playing like a top goaltender.

Re: Would you rather...

To directly answer the question, I'd always prefer ending with the exceeded expectations, so I'd vote for the weak season and deep playoff run. Of course, I'd take the President's Trophy and the Cup in the same year if that were an option.

Re: season ticket holder price increase

From a pure capitalism standpoint, if they have a waiting list for season tickets, they're not pricing them high enough. In theory, they should set the price such that every seat is filled and there's no waiting list.

The differences are pretty interesting. They give Boston pretty much no chance, along with several others.

Wild dropped in Moneypuck's Cup prediction

http://moneypuck.com/predictions.htm The Wild are now third behind the Capitals and the Bruins. Interesting to see how the predictions changed since the close of the trade deadline. Nobody seems to be talking much about Boston. I wonder why Moneypuck likes them so much.

Without doing any research at all, Neuvirth seems to be a big reason why Philly is having any success at all this year. I'd be interested in seeing him in a Wild sweater.

Interestingly, after the GWG last night, I thought to myself that the last time I saw a Wild player undress an entire team like that was PMB, and look where he ended up with his concussions. I certainly hope that Granlund doesn't follow the same path. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQO3h8VXFG4

Re: Granlund or Nino?

I lean Granny, too. Nino is great at being a big body in front of the net and getting the ugly goals, but I feel that's a skill that's easier to find than what Granny brings.
