The Game: 5 Keys To The Wild's Season

Postby NickinNY » Fri Sep 08, 2017 3:33 pm

I just posted what I think are the five keys to the Wild's season.

1. Dumba and Zucker in contract seasons
2. Backup goalie
3. Depth
4. Scott Stevens
5. Regular season vs. playoff success

Agree? Disagree?

I could get on board with those.

Here's what I would say without putting a ton of thought into it:

1) Depth- as in health & production- up front
2) Depth on the blue line- Olofsson has to stay healthy & contribute, Reilly needs to start producing in the National League before he turns 30
3) Backup Goalie- Duby needs to be re-charged & ready to go come playoff time (Good Lord willing)
4) Boudreau mellowing out a bit & not being a panic master. Does he have it in him to be a steady hand if things go south?
5) Would love to see JEEK or Kunin step in and be a big asset at the C position.

Dubs you and I have talked about this, but hopefully Woods is a calming influence on BB, where maybe Stevens didn't have the ability to be that presence simply because he hasn't known BB as long as Woods has.

1) Dubys workload and Stalock reliability.
2) Is size still an issue with this team with Foligno addition?
3) What kind of realistic impact can we expect from JEEK and Kunin?
4) Will the loss of depth at D hurt long term or be worth the gamble?
5) Will Dumba (in contract year) live to his potential and cash in or do we move on?

Farmer: Good point about size. Wasn't that one of the things that Fletcher mentioned with Russo at the Fair? I'm intrigued by Foligno. I like that he's in town and working out/skating with the guys even w/o a contract.
