Is Parise that important?

Postby Mike Berg » Thu Oct 05, 2017 1:27 pm

Scoggins seems to think Parise's absence is a big problem.

IMO, the only issue is that it hamstring's CF's ability to bring in more talent.

Well, it seems that the Wild just signed Daniel Winnik to a contract to play the fourth line, moving other wingers up to take Parise's place. What's the difference in value to this team between Winnik and Parise? I'd say it's pretty significant.

They demonstrated a lot of Parise's style of play last night. Good net front, below the dots, below the goal line work. So, does he convert more of those opportunities? If so, then they miss him. If not, then they don't. The problem is that he's still taking up cap space right now.

Who is moving up into Parise's position? Winnik? Ennis? Foligno?

Last I checked, we had (22-12-3) and (16-9-64) as our top 2 lines.

the problem is his injury is just enough to keep him out or playable but not at his normal level. The wild would be better off if the injury was more severe to be able to LTIR him.
it would be nice if they could just tell him to take the year off and fix the damn thing.

I don't want to be over-dramatic, but this is getting scary. What's he going to do when we're in the meat of the season and they're playing every other night?? Shut it down, take the season, get 100% right. Stop trying to be a hero. Because you're a hero with 8 more seasons on your fucking contract.

Well, let's hope he's not important, because he's out another 8-10 weeks.

Latest Russo article makes it sound like 12 weeks minimum. (Speculation from another surgeon.)

Listening to Zach's brother Jordan on the 93X morning show, it sounds like Zach was feeling much better pretty much immediately. Hopefully, he'll be closer to the shorter part of that timetable.

I hope he doesn't try to rush back.

Do you think he can change his playing style? Do you think it will always be in the back of his head now?

Physical injuries sometimes become mental injuries as well....

I think that's part of the problem. He's got to get back to 100% rather than trying to rush himself.
